I finished reading this article from EQD:
[link]This article brings to issue the reaction the recently released trailer for the new Equestria Girls movie has caused. I'm here to say...it's going to be okay. Yes, Twilight is in high school, yes, they're giving her a love interest, yes there is a "prom" storyline, and yes it's probably not what you were hoping for when it was first leaked that the Mane Six we all know and love were being turned into humans.
Here's the key thing to keep in mind...the demographic. Recall who the franchise was originally made for and by. Created by a toy company to sell dolls to girls. Was that way back in the 80s and it's still that way now. The thing is we fell in love with the latest incarnation because on some level it reminded us of good television from our childhoods.
Nowadays television's role is to sell. That's why most shows are the same thing. For children's television it's to sell toys based on the show itself along with getting kids to stay in front of the TV screens for 30 min at a time to see the latest products tailored to them.
We're not any better with reality shows. Thing is some programs have great people who pour their hearts into making a show more than it's intended purpose. That's what happened with MLP. The staff wanted to make a show that while it would sell toys would treat it's audience intelligently and we got sucked in.
So yeah...this movie may not be all we hoped for, and if you don't like it fine. Let's just all remain calm...it's not the end of the world. The writers, animators, VAs and more are still working on pony season 4 and are doing what they can to make this work.
Yeah...Hasbro will use this for more money...no surprise there. But the talent they have still deserve a chance. We gave MLP G4 a chance. Let's try giving this one. I'm not saying to feel obligated to do so, but just look into yourselves and try.
